Available in XL, XLT, Lariat, and King Ranch trim levels; Regular Cab, Crew Cab, and Super Cab styles; 6.75-foot and 8-foot box styles; and 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains, the 2011 Super Duty F-250 comes with 2 different engine choices. The first is an all-new E85-capable 6.2-liter 2-valve V8 gas engine that generates class-leading 385 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque. This engine is superior to the engine in previous models thanks to bigger pistons, bigger intake and exhaust valves, bigger displacement, and a larger engine bore diameter, plus it features a 15% bump in fuel economy, allowing for best-in-class fuel economy. The second engine is an all-new B20-capable 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel engine that features an all-new single-sequential turbocharger and puts out best-in-class 400 horsepower and 800 pound-feet of torque. Over the previous incarnation, this engine gives you more horsepower, more torque, greater towing and hauling capabilities, and even a fuel efficiency increase of 20%, giving it best-in-class diesel fuel economy. It also is the cleanest diesel engine even produced by Ford, as its state-of-the-art emissions system reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx) levels by more than 80 percent and allows it to meet the latest strict federal emissions standards. Meanwhile, the F-350 gets its power from a 6.8L V10 engine that gets 362 horsepower, 457 pound-feet of torque, and is the only large-displacement gas engine of its kind available in the Class IV/V segment.

These engines are paired to an all-new Ford TorqShift 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission that gives you access to two different modes: Progressive Range Select that limits the range of gears to lock out overdrive and Full Manual mode for the height of control by allowing you to go all the way up and all the way down the gearbox. For added strength, durability, and heat resistance, this transmission also includes powder metal sinter brazed assembly, something usually only seen in high-performance engines. You also have 2 choices of 4-wheel-drive systems: a manual 4-Wheel-Drive System with manual locking hubs and an Electronic Shift-On-the-Fly (ESOF) 4-Wheel-Drive System. When you combine all the power and performance of these engines and transmission, it allows for both best-in-class towing and best-in-class payload, namely a maximum conventional towing of 16,000 pounds, a maximum towing of 24,400 pounds with the 5th-Wheel/Gooseneck Trailer Tow Prep Package installed, and a maximum payload of 6,520 pounds in the bed that has been sprayed down with an optional, unique factory-installed spray-in bedliner called ToughBed that includes a tailgate guard, black box bed tie-down hooks, and black bed attachment bolts. Finally, when you have the Power Stroke V8 equipped, you can add the segment-first Live Drive Power Takeoff (PTO) that allows you to power commercial accessories like salt spreaders and highway tree-trimming equipment via the transmission so long as the engine is running.
